R. Luke DuBois made these light-boxes that look like eye charts, but they are actually a representation of the words that some of t he most popular American presidents have said throughout history. Each president gets his own ‘eye chart.’ The bigger the word on the chart, the more times that president has used that word. It quickly gives you an idea of what was important to each president (and indirectly, what was important to the people who elected that president). Can you guess what the biggest word on George W’s chart is?
Installation will debut at the Democratic National Convention in Denver August 2008. The work consists of 41 outdoor light boxes.
This is pretty much the sexiest chess board ever. Pieces are minimal and designed to represent the way they move around the chess board. The board starts looking ugly when you see the $450 dollar price tag. And that’s only for the pieces. The board will set you back an extra $300 bones. If money ain’t no thang, you can pick this board up at Design Within Reach.
The Green Home Environmental Store designs a recyclable handmade calendar. Green products are nothing new, but what was interesting for me is that each month is printed on “seed paper.” In other words, when the month is over you can plant the page directly in the ground and have wildflowers grow in its place.
Best part is that it is only $25 bucks.
First reaction: what the F!?
Second reaction: Why the H didn’t I think about that!?
If you haven’t seen this yet, here’s the deal. This dude collects garbage, puts it in a glass cube, calls it art, and then sells it on his website for $100 a pop. I know it sounds stupid, but I have to admit, I’ve thought about buying one of them more then once.
I ended up just collecting my own garbage and putting it in a glass cube.
if you have a fetish for all things 8-bit, get ready to touch yourself. it’s a watch that looks like it was built with pixels. I’m actually a little surprised that this type of thing wasn’t created sooner. pixels have been around for quite some time now. But i guess that is exactly why it is so cool now. What’s old is new again. even know pixels aren’t really ‘old’ because they are still around today, but you get my meaning. Pixels are starting to be cool again.
it’s made out of some strong steel stuff, and it is available only at MoMA (i think).
When I was a kid (and i’d like to think that this was not too long ago) I thought that books were good in every kind of way. What could possibly be wrong with books? (more…)
