Banksy Sprays Brooklyn

…or does he?
I walked by what looks like another Banksy stencil that got put up in my hood recently (Roebling St. Williamsburg Brooklyn). I’ve seen a couple of Banksy-esque looking pieces around lately (there was a soccer player on driggs a couple months ago, and a narrow piece on N6th) but I was never sold that they were really put up by Banksy. Turns out that this latest piece was done by an artist named Nick Walker. His work is very close (in content and style) to what Banksy does.
Could be the reason Banksy is so big. So many people have a similar style, and want to be anonymous… it would be easy for most people to just attribute the work to the only big name they know: Banksy.

Carbon Copies

Pencils made from the carbon of human cremains. 240 pencils can be made from an average body of ash - a lifetime supply of pencils for those left behind. Each pencil is foil stamped with the name of the person. Only one pencil can be removed at a time, it is then sharpened back into the box causing the sharpenings to occupy the space of the used pencils. Over time the pencil box fills with sharpenings - a new ash, transforming it into an urn. The window acts as a timeline, showing you the amount of pencils left as time goes by. I love it! I have a goth-tooth, what can I say.
Thai Food

Why don’t individual Thai restaurants just make an executive decision and sell only pad thai? Any time I get Thai food, if I ever order anything besides pad thai, it’s only because I’m “experimenting.”On occasions where I find myself eating Thai food, the evening following the meal tends to involve being in a public setting around people who are interested in social activities. The last thing you need at a time like that is to have to run to the bathroom and make dirty turdies and feel uncomfortable the entire time.Well I’m going to set the record straight. There’s no need to experiment when it comes to meal time. I don’t need a stomach ache, and I certainly don’t need a burning asshole.

This is the answer to all the problems I’ve been having with my iMac. The additional USB hub pretty much makes my life, and this iMac, a whole lot less of a nonsensical and inconvenient piece of USB-deprived turdery. Click here to check it out.
Block, Shot, And Two Smokin’ Sneakers
Thursday, May 1st, 2008I’m not a huge football (soccer) fan, but i’ll watch it when it’s on. and I played my fair share in elementary/high school. I’m not really a Nike fan either. However! there is no denying the fact that Nike puts together some of the best TV spots. This time though, they really out did themselves. You get to follow an anonymous rookie through his rise to stardom and feel what it is like to rub cleats with some of the biggest soccer players out there. The spot was produced by a relatively new agency in California, 72andSunny, and filmed by one of my favorite directors, Guy Ritchie. The result is a commercial that is inspiring. It brings advertising to the next level.
